Letting Out the Steam!

It's that time of year again. The craziness of the fall and winter is beginning once more. While the psychos roam the streets (anywhere really), we need to find a way to release the frustrations of having to deal with such stressful environments. Some people exercise, others shop (though why you would want to shop now is beyond me), some change their looks. As for me, I write. My angriest, and even most depressing, scenes have been written during times of stress and upset. It is when I feel most inspired. It is almost like the characters chatter away in my brain making the feeling of urgency even worse. So I put those frustrations on paper.

My latest scribble fest is a new story idea. It is currently untitled because I haven't hit a point where that 'Ah ha!' has hit me. I don't really know exactly where this story will take me, but it seems like fun for now. (Smile, this is a good thing!)

Now this doesn't mean that Twin Eyes is on the back burner, it is also a current running in my head. (Yeah, it's painful with so many chatty-Cathy's in my head). The reason I started this new story is to get my mind off of Twin Eyes for a bit until I can become inspired to write the remaining chapters that evade me. (I see those little buggers hiding around the corner playing Peek-a-Boo). Unfortunately this means that on top of the stress of being a college student, I also have my brain wrapped around these stories. (School always comes first!) I sometimes find it hard to sleep at night, but such is the life of a writer. Insomnia must be a growing thing amongst writers.

Luckily I have three days off between work and school. Otherwise I would lose my mind...even more so than I already have.

PLUS!!! I am a fangirl of many things. My current obsession is anime, so I follow many currently running stories that help to inspire me. Sadly, this means that I have some form of anxiety (mostly from one story) when it comes to waiting. The two stories I am really into right now are Bleach by Tite Kubo and Naruto by Masashi Kishimoto. Yeah yeah. I know what you're thinking. (Trust me I have heard it all). What is a twenty-one year old doing watching and reading "cartoons"? But to be honest, the different worlds that these Japanese mangaka create is a wonderful escape from the hardships of the real world. I don't really care if I am judged for it, it is something that makes me happy, so why should I fit in with what people want to see me as? Anyway (rambling over), those stories give the right amount of suspense (because I have to wait a week between chapters) that helps me to create a tense environment necessary for my story. (That could just be I want some where to vent).

Whoa...talk about getting off topic. I guess I just needed to talk about the new things in my writing and reading life.

Let me know (to those few readers I have) what else you would like to see on here. I am willing to talk about anything writing and reading related.

Later!

Seeing the Story

It isn't too often I can create my own characters without having to look at actors or other characters for inspiration of exactly what I want. This time however I have tried to rely on my own skills. While there is some inspiration for some characters, I adore the ones I make on my own.

The following drawing is a doodle I did at work today. It is of the main character Alyssa. Around her are Kai's bow, Alyssa's sword, and the resistance symbol.

I know this probably means nothing but I will post shortly in detail some time soon about my characters. Well, not too much detail. That would spoil it.

Till next time.

New Beginning

Hello!

Far too long have I been struggling to find the perfect story to write that pleases me one hundred percent. I think I have found it. (I always smile widely on the inside whenever I think about this story!) I don't know what will come of this new story but I know that I am pleased with it. (You're probably wondering about the story, I'm getting to that). I am struggling writing it, which is a good sign that I want it to be perfect. I think I am going to post it on Wattpad.com at some point, so that means I will need to design a cover for it. This is just an added pressure of being a hobby writer while studying in school. (What am I studying in school? Let me tell you.) I am in college, in my third year, studying as a Veterinary Technician. In simple terms, I'm going to be an animal nurse. (Yeah, it makes me shudder to think of it that way, but technically in the UK it is called a nurse, so I can't fault the term too much). I have like a year to go in my program so this should be my last year. (Crossing my fingers!)

Babbling over, you probably want to know about my story!

The story I am most excited about (the only one I am writing right now) is Twin Eyes. Strange name I know. It is really cool. It is set in a made-up land called Gaerian (which also happens to be the name of the Capitol). There are four surrounding countries with Capitols of their own. It is about magic and fighting and love and loss and death and betrayal and...so much more. This story is probably the darkest story I have ever attempted. Darker than my vampire story (Nightstalkers Trilogy) and much darker than my dragon story (Dragon Wars). I don't know if it is any good (because being the author I automatically am biased and love the story) so I won't know until someone else reads it. The person I want to read it is actually far away right now, so I will have to wait on that.

Damn, I'm rambling again.

Um...let's see, characters. How do I begin? They are each different in special ways. No they aren't weak little people that have no backbone and cower to the villain. These characters are strong, determined, and suffer greatly. I was inspired by so many strong characters when I was creating this that I just hope they don't actually seem like copies of the characters. (Suddenly I am very worried).

My inspiration for these characters comes straight from the things I am most interested in. Harry Potter, Naruto, The Hunger Games, Fullmetal Alchemist, D. Gray-Man, and Eragon to name a few. These are actually my biggest inspiration. If I had never seen a fight on YouTube called Pain vs Naruto, I probably wouldn't have been able to write a scene between the main character and the bad guy. It gave me a good idea of the route I wanted to take when it came to what I wanted as the story draws to a close. Fullmetal Alchemist, Eragon, and The Hunger Games helped me to create a world that is unlike the one we live in but at the same time similar enough that you don't feel completely out of the loop. D. Gray-Man and Harry Potter helped me to create the resistance (if I can ever remember the name I made up for it *author fail*). Every story I have read or watched has helped me to visualize this new world I have created. Then the characters helped me create my very own characters. Naruto Uzumaki - who never gives up, Allen Walker - who struggles with the darkness within in, Katniss Everdeen - who is struggles to understand the world around her while at the same time just struggling to survive, Edward Elric - who knows the darkness of the world around him and fights restlessly to stop it, and several others, but you get my idea.

It isn't just the characters that are easily influenced but also the world itself. There are many parts of my world that are influenced by our own world. An example is my island of Ceria which is based on Japan and China. So obviously the culture and the characteristics of the people are similar as well. The names are clearly made up, but I liked having a reference to draw upon when creating this world.

I guess this is where I can draw my rambling, failed attempt at a blog to a close.

Keeping you posted on my stories will be a priority, if I can find the time between homework.

Ja ne.
